You'll compete as part of a team to earn Green Points for your actions. There are a whole range of actions that you can earn points for under a range of different themes.

Each activity explains what you need to do to earn Green Points by clicking the 'More Info' button - some will require a submission that you can make through the website, whilst others will invite you to report on a weekly basis via your email nudge. There's an activity for everyone, so get stuck in!

Leader board

As a member of Doing #UoRBit, you will have selected a team to join when signing up.

You'll compete as an individual and as a team with your Green Points showing on our leader board. Those who top the leader board for that month will win a voucher, while the top teams will win a charity donation. Each month there are 2 x £20 vouchers up for grabs for the two people who have earned the most Green Points that month. This means that, no matter when you've joined Doing #UoRBit, everyone has a chance to win! Once you've won there's a 4 month cooling-off period to allow more users a chance of winning! In March 2022 this was reduced from 6 months to 4 months.

Need to change your team? Don't worry, you can do this any time under My Account.

Effort and Impact

Climate change is something that affects us all and that's why we want Doing #UoRBit to be accessible and inclusive for everyone. Next to each activity, you'll be able to see an Effort and an Impact rating out of five. This is to give you an idea of which activities we consider tougher than others, and those which will have a bigger impact, either for sustainability or wellbeing.

However, we understand that effort can mean something different to everyone. Your individual effort to achieve an action may be higher or lower than the rating indicated, they are just for guidance.

No matter how big or small, each action you take adds up to a big difference. Some actions you might find are easy to achieve and come almost as second nature, whilst others may challenge you to get creative and think how can you best take part.

Sustainability at University of Reading

This is all part of the University's 2020-2026 Environmental Sustainability Strategy - and we want you to get involved! We know that small actions add up to make a big difference and that everyone has their part to play in addressing the Climate Emergency. That means saving energy and water where we can, connecting with our natural world, opting for active travel, or thinking about the impact of our diet.

Whether you're working remotely or in the office, we've got activities for everyone to take part in. Keep an eye out for our 'Home Working' icon on activities that have been upgraded for working from home.

I'm already taking part but I want to do more
